The Stone Fort Competition Information
Very important information for all Triple Crown and Stone Fort competitors! Read EVERYTHING! There have been MANY updates to the event schedule!!

FRIDAY NIGHT DECEMBER 4
Pre-registration will be held at the Urban Rocks Gym in Chattanooga from 5pm to 8pm. Competitors will be able to PICK UP THEIR COMPETITION PACKET AND T-SHIRT.

Come join us at pre-registration for a cold beverage and also get a chance to look at the comp map to make your “plan of attack” for the next day! Our sponsors and non-profit beneficiaries will be present, and we’ll also raffle off some cool prizes to raise money for climbing access!
*****This will be a great opportunity to either pick-up or re-new your membership to the Southeastern Climbers’ Coalition, the Carolina Climbers’ Coalition and the Friends of the Cumberland Trail!!

General Information for Stone Fort

Spectators
If you would like to attend, but do not plan to compete at this competition, you must register and pay the same as a competitor. Space is limited at this competition--ALL comp attendees must register as if they are competing. This includes parents or guardians.

Dogs
NO Dogs are allowed at Stone Fort! Please be respectful of the land-owners and leave your animals at home!

If you are under 18
You MUST download the Stone Fort waiver and have a parent fill it out and sign it. You must then bring it with you to registration on Friday night or Saturday morning. You will also need a guardian (over 18) to accompany you or your group the day of the event.

Competition T-Shirts
You will be given one free Stone Fort tee the morning of the event (or at pre-registration Friday Night). As always, there are several cool designs for Stone Fort and Triple Crown! If you wish to purchase extra tees they will cost $15 each.

Bring a Harness
The Stone Fort has TONS of great problems and many new ones—some of these require a top rope. Make sure to bring your harness so you can enjoy all that the Stone Fort has to offer.

Shoe Demos
Be sure to take your driver’s license if you’d like to demo a pair of climbing shoes from Five Ten, La Sportiva and Evolv! All climbing shoe sponsors will be at the Stone Fort parking lot prior to competitor arrival for climbing shoe demo rental.

SATURDAY MORNING DECEMBER 5

Check In/Registration
(Saturday, December 5) you will need to be at Urban Rocks Climbing Gym NO LATER than 8:00am to check-in.

Five Ten Fruit and Cereal Breakfast
Five Ten will be providing a free fruit and cereal breakfast at Check-in. Come and get it!!!

Getting to the Boulders
ALL competition participants must ride one of the competitor’s buses to the competition. NO ONE will be allowed to drive to the boulderfield. Cars without appropriate passes will not be allowed. We will begin loading buses at 8:30am.
**Please do not be late!! If you miss the bus, you’ll miss this competition!!!

Lunch/Food & Drinks
No lunch will be provided at the boulders so bring any food and drink you may need.

However, there will be concessions available for purchase during the event--so bring cash with you to the boulderfield. The money you spend on concessions supports the Montlake Golf Club. They have been very generous to the climbing community in allowing us to have the competition here, as well as allowing climbers limited access year round. Please bring money to buy some concessions to support them!

SATURDAY AFTERNOON

Hourly Shuttles
You can leave Stone Fort by taking one of the shuttles from the Golf Club. You will not be allowed to re-enter Montlake once you leave. Shuttles will run every hour starting at 1:00. If no one is at the shuttle at departure time it will not run until the next hour.

Turn in your Scoresheet
You will need to turn in your scoresheet at the entrance to the boulderfield no later than 4:30pm in order to place in the event. Any scoresheets turned in later will be disqualified. You are not required to turn in any scoresheet. We draw registration forms in order to give door prizes.

Buses will arrive at the boulderfield at 4:45
Buses will depart Montake no later than 5pm!! Do not miss the bus!!!

Beverage in the Park' on the day of the comp
Bring an extra dollar(s) to the boulderfield...First Avenue Rocks and So. Ill Holds will be on site with beer and cokes for refreshment in the afternoon! Each beverage will be $1 and proceeds will support the Alabama Bouldering Fund.

SATURDAY NIGHT, DECEMBER 6

Dinner
Dinner will be served starting at 6:30. We’ll be providing some yummy grub for $5 a plate. There will also be free beer at the Evolv booth. Just be sure to bring an ID and a reusable container. No cups will be provided.

Dyno Competition
There will be dyno comp between 7:30 and 8:00……..enter for a chance to win some great prizes…….and to have some cold, hard cash donated to regional climbing access in your name!!!

Raffles
There will be an SCC raffle. Sign up and take a chance on walking away with even more booty and support “the cause” at the same time.

There will also be an opportunity to join the Southeastern Climbers’ Coalition, the Carolina Climbers’ Coalition, and Friends of the Cumberland Trail--if you are not a member, stop being a lame chach and join. Make it your goal to become proactive this year.

Awards Ceremony
The AWARDS CEREMONY will begin immediately after the raffles are finished. There will be tons of door prizes! So, if you didn’t do so good at the comp, don’t miss it. You could still win BIG!

First Avenue Rocks and So. Ill Holds Sponsor 'Chili-and-a-Brew'
BBQ sandwich, a high gravity brew, and chips for $10 on Saturday evening when competitors return from the boulderfield! All proceeds will benefit the Alabama Bouldering Fund!

Accommodations

There will be very limited camping at Urban Rocks. A field adjacent to Urban Rocks will provide a limited amount of free camping for the very hardy!! Anyone is welcome to take advantage of this.

We recommend the below options for camping/hotels.

Directions: From Downtown Chattanooga, take I-24 West and go about 4 miles to exit #174. Turn right at the bottom of the ramp then go 1.3 miles and the entrance will be on your left.

Directions: From downtown Chattanooga, take I-24 West, travel into Georgia and take the ramp to I-59 South toward Birmingham. Get off at Exit 17 Slygo Road. Then follow the KOA signs to the campground.

Directions: From downtown Chattanooga, take US-27 N for approximately 13 miles. Take the Thrasher Pike exit and turn right on Thrasher Pike. Go 3.8 miles and turn left on Hixson Pike. Go 0.2 miles and turn right on Gold Point Cir N.

Best Holiday Trav-L-Park

  • Primitive tent sites $25/2 people ($29 with water& electric) / cottages - $40-99

Directions: If Northbound on I-75 take Exit 1B. If Southbound on I-75 take Exit 1. In either case, go right at top of ramp, then turn left at light at Mack Smith Rd. & go for 1/2 mile (see signs). Best Holiday Trav-L-Park is on the right, RV’s enter at first driveway or third driveway.

T-Wall Camp Ground (Primitive Camping)
  • 20 minutes from downtown
  • Primitive camping, no amenities
  • Do not leave camp set up while gone (There have been theft problems in the past)

Directions: From downtown Chattanooga, take US-27 N for approximately 2 miles. Take the Signal Mountain Road exit. Take Signal Mountain Road approximately 1.5 miles and make a left onto Suck Creek Road. Go 4 miles and turn left on River Canyon Road (Mullens Cove Road) just after you cross over Suck Creek (if you start climbing the mountain you have missed the turn). Go approximately 6 miles and look for the T-Wall parking area on your left. Camping is allowed in the woods beyond the parking area.

Do your part to keep the trash to a minimum!! In an effort to reduce the environmental impact of this event, we are asking all competitors to bring their own durable water containers for drinks. Please do your best to avoid bringing disposable water/sport drink containers! Bring your Nalgene, AGS, Sigg, KOR etc. For those that do not own these types of containers (and you should!!), we’ll have custom Triple Crown AGS aluminum containers and new KOR HYDRATION VESSELS for sale at the event for $15.

Other Points of Interest
Closure Dates: Little Rock City/Stone Fort will be CLOSED from Wednesday, December 2 through Sunday, December 6 to prepare for and clean-up after the competition. Check with Rock/Creek Outfitters for information about other nearby climbing areas—there are tons! 423.265.5969
